Hope Notes

Why?

We want to bring compassion, kindness, and encouragement in the form of handwritten notes to people experiencing separation, divorce, or the end of a long-term partnership. It’s the kind of support that we exchanged before, during, and after our respective divorces.

Who?

Anyone is eligible to be a recipient–including yourself. Nominating someone you know is safe, easy, and rewarding. It is our goal to spread our compassion to anyone who could benefit from our receiving a notecard.

Whether someone is contemplating divorce, at any stage of the process, managing the related emotional or mental stress, feeling isolated, or trying to rebuild their lives after any adversity, they deserve to be seen and we want to offer them (or you) hope for the future.

Our promise

We are committed to protecting the identity of recipients. Personal information about the recipient is never shared with the public and we are the only people who write and send the cards. There is also no charge and we’ve written to people all over the world—including India, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom in addition to the United States.

We love sending handwritten notes to remind others that they aren't alone. Just click the button below for the online form to request encouragement for yourself or for someone you love.

Spread hope with us

Research indicates that those who consistently help other people experience less depression, greater calm, fewer pains, and better health. They may even live longer.

How you can help

With this in mind, we invite you to join us to write a note of hope to someone else. We have partnered with SARC of Harford County to write uplifting notes to the families and children they serve—many of whom are experiencing separation, divorce, or the end of a long-term partnership. Here is how you can help:

  • Write a message that gives reassurance, strength, or inspiration in a handmade or store-bought card.
  • Put your card in the envelope if you have one, but do not seal the envelope.
  • Do not address the outside of the envelope with a return address.
  • You may send the individual card or several cards together in one large envelope to Sincerely, Divorced, 1443 Rock Spring Road, Unit 219, Bel Air, MD 21014.
  • We will add your card(s) to a future delivery to SARC or distribute them to individuals in a Sincerely, Divorced support group.

Expand our reach

Please let us know if there is another community partner who could benefit from receiving notes of hope for the people they serve. If you’re interested in becoming a partner organization or want to support this outreach, please send us an email.
